Common crypto scams to avoid

If someone pressures you to act fast, move crypto, or keep it secret — it’s a scam.

Crypto scams work because transactions can’t be reversed. Scammers rely on urgency, fear, and impersonation to rush you into mistakes.

Red flags to watch for:

If any of these happen, stop immediately:

  • You’re being pressured to create an account or take action right now
  • A call, text, or email tells you your account is at risk
  • Someone asks you to screen share
  • You’re told to buy crypto for someone else
  • You’re asked to move funds to a “safe” or “investment” account

RockWallet will never:

  • Ask for your recovery phrase or private keys
  • Ask you to screen share
  • Ask you to move funds to protect them
  • Contact you outside official support channels

Contact RockWallet Support

Step 1: Email support@rockwallet.com and include the following details about any suspicious transactions:

  • Type of transaction (Buy, Send, Swap, or Receive)

  • Amount(s) involved

  • Date and time of each transaction

  • Screenshots of the suspicious transaction(s) from your wallet

For ‘Buy’ transactions: Please also include a screenshot of your bank statement showing the unauthorized charge.

Make sure all sensitive information is blocked out, leaving only your full name and the last four digits of your card visible.

Step 2: Secure your device

Check your phone or tablet for any unfamiliar or unofficial apps not downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Unverified apps may contain malicious code designed to steal sensitive data or payment information.

Step 3: Protect your RockWallet account

If you still have access to your RockWallet:

  • Reset your PIN immediately.

  • Make sure your PIN is unique and not used for any other apps or services.

  • Enable additional security features such as Touch ID or 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) if available.

⚠️ Important: RockWallet is a self-custodial wallet, meaning only you have access to your recovery phrase and private keys.

RockWallet Support can investigate and guide you, but we cannot recover funds from the blockchain or reverse completed transactions.
