# Why did the mining fees change?
## Understand why blockchain network fees may differ from the original estimate.
Mining fees (also known as network fees) are determined by blockchain activity and can change quickly based on network demand.
The fee you see before confirming your transaction is the closest real-time estimate available. However, your final transaction amount may differ slightly if network fees refresh while the transaction is being processed sometimes within seconds.
This ensures your transaction is confirmed as quickly and securely as possible on the blockchain.
