# What are Passkeys and how do they work?
## Passkeys let you sign in without a password. They’re safer and simpler.
A passkey is a secure way to sign in without using a traditional password.
It uses the security already built into your device, such as Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint, device PIN, or screen lock.
When RockWallet gives you the option to enable a passkey, please make sure you are enabling it. You will need to save it to your password manager on your device.
Please do not disable passkeys in your RockWallet account
To check your passkey setting in RockWallet:
1. Open RockWallet.
2. Go to **Preferences**.
3. Find **Passkey**.
4. Make sure it is turned **ON**.
If your passkey is already enabled, **do not turn it off.**

**Good to know:**
- Passkeys stay on your device
- RockWallet never sees your passkey
- Your biometrics never leave your device
Passkeys are harder to steal or phish than traditional passwords.
